What to Expect During Your First Surf Lesson in Lombok

So, you’ve signed up for your first surf lesson in Lombok—amazing! But you’re probably wondering: What actually happens during a surf lesson? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s what to expect when you surf with Paradise Surf School Lombok:

🏄 1. Warm Welcome + Beach Introduction

You’ll meet your surf coach (maybe Coach Romi with his big smile and jokes!) and the group on the beach. We start with a short explanation of ocean conditions, wave types, and safety tips. You’ll also learn about surf etiquette—because yes, there are rules out there!

🌊 2. Land Practice (a.k.a. "The Pop-Up")

Before jumping into the ocean, we practice the basics on land. You’ll learn how to lie on your board, paddle correctly, and do your first “pop-up” (standing up on the board). Don’t worry—it’s okay to fall a few times. That’s part of the fun.

🏖️ 3. Into the Water!

Now it’s time to hit the waves! We stay in waist-deep water for your first go, helping you catch small, soft waves. You’ll get hands-on guidance from your coach and lots of encouragement.

😄 4. Big Smiles and Progress

Most of our students stand up during their very first lesson! And even if you don’t, you’ll feel the thrill of riding a wave and the joy of trying something new.
